Two of Airports Company South Africa’s (ACSA’s) airports received awards at the Airports Council International World’s 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Experience Awards, ACSA has announced. The two airports were recognised in the Best Airports by Size and Region category, and one of them also won a Special Category Award.

Bram Fischer International Airport (BFIA) and George Airport were the two winners, both coming first in the category for African airports with fewer than two-million passengers a year. George also won a Special Category Award for the Easiest Airport Journey in Africa.

The ASQ Experience Awards were based entirely on feedback from airline passengers. For 2024, the awards were determined from the results of 700 000 surveys. The awards were presented in partnership with leading travel and tourism software solutions company Amadeus. This year, a record 181 awards were presented to 95 airports around the world.

“We are honoured to be recognised among the best in the industry and incredibly proud of [BFIA’s] achievement at the recent ASQ Experience Awards,” highlighted BFIA airport manager Thabo Phateng. “This recognition recognises our efforts to consistently strive to deliver exceptional passenger experiences. Our team’s commitment to excellence, and the consistent collaboration with all relevant airport stakeholders, has set a new benchmark in the aviation industry.”

“We are immensely proud of this exceptional achievement at the 2024 ASQ Experience Awards,” enthused George airport manager Brenda Vorster. “Winning in the Best Airports by Size and Region category for airports with under two-million passengers per year, as well as receiving the Special Category Award for Easiest Airport Journey in Africa, is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire time. Your commitment to excellence has been rightfully recognised, and I am confident that this will inspire us to reach even greater heights.”
